Can Fictional Language Be Created
Communication is the exchange of information that could take place between one person and another. It will be difficult for people to exchange information or relate with each other without a common language. There are more than one million languages that can be used by people to relate with each other. Aside from human communication, there is virtual communication that takes place among nonhuman entities. For instance, a robot can communicate with a human being while computer systems can also communicate with their users through a special algorithm.
Cthuvian, which is referred to as R’lyehian is a language created by H.P. Lovecraft in “The Call of the Cthulhu”. It isn’t a common language like English, French, and Spanish in fact, Cthuvian has a special kind of phonology different from the human language. The vowels and consonants are somewhat unfamiliar when compared to the human language. It is important to state here that, R’lyehian is a language designed for aliens and that’s why the structure is quite different from ordinary English, Cthuvian is known to have a weird syllable structure that makes it interesting though, complicated to understand. Another feature to note about this language is that the nouns, verbs, and other parts of speech follow a unique pattern which makes them undistinguished from each other.
Cthuvian is described as fusional where prefix, nouns, and suffix construction are mostly used. In this language, the past tense is constructed by simply a prefix to the verb. For instance, “sll’ha” means giving an offer while “nafl’sll’ha” implies you gave an offer. Different scientists have tried to create languages that can be used for communication but, that has been somewhat difficult. But, creating a fictional language can be a little difficult, take, for instance, to create a language that robots that use or speak may require high-level technology. Most often, robots can think or unless they are programmed by experts. In the military, security codes are used to relate information such that those outside the military won’t understand.
Cthulhu is a fictional language, just like any computer program Lovecraft in the concept “the Call of Cthulhu.” Various authors have tried to explain the concept further though it seems difficult to express what the creator intended fully. The main character in the story is regarded as a god, and his subjects have a unique language that is being used to offer worship to this great deity. The author tries to create an imaginary scenario where nonhuman beings, more like aliens, can have a unique language of expression just like humans.
